\\happy easter

so, its easter again.  happy easter everyone.  [that's directed to all of my imaginary followers of my blog]  i know, it's been awhile again since i've posted.  unfortunately as i started typing this post, i just got a call from my mother informing me she is on her way to our house right now so we can bring her to easter dinner at my cousin's.  not a problem, except neither katy nor i have showered or gotten dressed.  not to say we're sitting around naked, but i think you catch my drift.  i can't function on sunday without getting up slightly early (in the 9-10am range) and making some coffee and reading the paper.  that is sunday for me.  it makes my whole week.  just relaxing, on the couch, by myself (since katy won't get up unless forced until noon or one).  no sounds in the house except the occasional cry of a cat for food or the pitter patter of the dogs nails on the hardwood.  i even have favorite articles i like to read in the hartford courant every sunday.  especially jim shea and colin mcenroe (at least i think thats their names).  i get the whole week's worth of papers, but usually only read sundays.  and its usually cover-to-cover.  anyway, i have to cut this short and jump in the shower before my mom shows up.  and i definitely did not get to finish the paper, or have my second LARGE cup of coffee.  oh well, at least i've got a dinner feast awaiting me this afternoon!

\\ultimate recipe showdown

ok, first a little back story.  kt and i are obsessive watchers of food network (specifically in hd).  she may be slightly worse than i, seeing as how she actually dvr's certain shows to watch later.  i prefer to just watch whatever is on at any given point on the channel.  i'm a big fan of iron chef america, next food network star, ace of cakes, good eats, and i'm sure i could just keep going.  anyway, i digress.  the point is that there is a show called "ultimate recipe showdown" in which they bring 4 challengers on to prepare their recipes for whatever the theme is that particular week.  for example, they have had comfort food one week and burgers another week.  there are two rounds with different time limits and three judges to score the participants entries.  each dish is scored individually, with the highest scoring dish, regardless of the round, being the overall winner.  so, an upcoming episode is going to feature cocktails.  they get their participants for this particular challenge from video's submitted online.  so kt and i decided to make one.  oh and did i mention that not only does the winner get a trip to vegas, but they also will have their cocktail featured on the tgif menu across the country.  what, what!

and without further ado:

\\bowser and his boots

video

some call it torture.  some call it mean.  some may even call it unnecessary.  i, however, call it hysterical.  and honestly, it doesn't bother him.  i wouldn't say he "loves" it, but he doesn't really fight it.  i just couldn't help but share this hilarity with everyone.  and with a little editing and musical score...well...i think its just priceless.  i hope you all can enjoy this as much as i do.  consider this my new year's gift to everyone out there on the wide world web.  i know, not a long post, especially with the time in between posts again, but i think the video makes it worth it.  enjoy.

\\snow

wow.  what a ton of snow.  i thought i loved the snow.  which i guess i still do have a fondness for it.  but, i really hate shoveling snow.  i also hate driving in the snow.  and furthermore, i hate working while its snowing, knowing the drive home is becoming worse and worse.  we got quite a bit of snow in the last few days.  friday we got out of work early and by the time i got home there was already a couple inches on the ground.  i shoveled once before katy got home, with about 4-5 inches on the ground.  then, after 3 white russians and about 6 hours, i went and shoveled again.  it wasn't as bad as i expected to be honest.  the driveway is only one car wide, but about 4-5 car lengths.  the width is what really makes a difference because you can just make passes across the width all the way down.  as i started to get frustrated at all the shoveling and lack of help (not that i expected it, but it was just a frustration) i really needed a release.  there is nothing like just jumping into a big pile of snow and lying there as fresh snow is falling.  with enough layers to stay warm, i could stay like that all night.  i laid there for about 20 min, eventually making a snow angel just so i had some excuse for being out there, ha ha.  very picturesque.

and on a side note...i'm really gonna try to post more often then once every two months.  promise.  sort of.  maybe.

\\cleaning

our exciting friday night plans were to clean the entire house, including finish putting some things away from our move in july.  yeah, i know its october.  obviously this is not our normal friday night evening, but my aunt and uncle are staying with us for a week and a half, and arrive tomorrow.  i'd like to at least have things in some presentable form.  not that we normally live in a pig sty, but i digress.

so katy decided she wanted to make this new recipe for dinner.  well that assumes that she ever actually repeats a recipe, which for those of you who don't know, she doesn't.  i apologize, i'm getting a little off topic.  the point being that we really needed to clean and had in fact already talked about all of things we each were going to be involved in.  i came home and started on the bathroom.  i spent a good hour and a half on the shower, toilet and sink; including running to the store for more "kaboom."  meanwhile, katy made dinner.  don't get me wrong, it was really good, but notice the trend.

so we eat dinner and admittedly, we both fall asleep on the couch.  after a quick half-hour cat nap, i motivate myself to get up and get back to work.  i sweep the entire house.  then go back and wash all of the floors (swiffer wetjet).  i get the sheets off the spare bed and into the wash, change our sheets, and fold all of the laundry that had been in the baskets for a few weeks.  i'm currently on the second load of laundry.  but don't get me wrong, i'm not mad.  i mean, someone had to make sure the couch didn't run away, and the dog had company:

\\pants destroyed

so the last post was just too good.   i wasn't sure what to post that wouldn't be a huge let down.  fortunately for me, a situation arose at work last week that may just be worthy of following my last post.

one of my co-workers, rob, was working on the production table.  its a 16' long table surrounded by racks, tables, and other equipment.  one of these pieces of equipment being a 60" laminator.  not that its important to the story to understand that, or what it is, but nonetheless, now you know.  well rob was coming around the corner of the table, walking to the front of the office, when suddenly a large "tearing" sound of cloth was heard.  the pair of shorts he was wearing looked like it had seen better days (perhaps in the 80's) so it was not a surprise that something may have been giving out.  as he continued around the corner past the laminator, he realized what exactly this "rip" was.  not only did it tear the button off of his shorts, but it DISINTEGRATED his zipper.  his shorts made it about half way down his ass before he was able to catch them and keep from being in his boxers in the middle of the office.  as he crawled to the back of the office to avoid the one woman in the office, alice (our bookkeepers) from seeing him half naked, the rest of us were rolling on the floor.  now as if this weren't funny enough, the only thing he could do now was to poke a few holes in the area where the zipper and button USED to be, and use zip ties to hold his shorts up for the rest of the day.  i just hope that you can get a decent enough mental image of that...because let me tell you...it was hysterical.

\\lady in red

video

all i can say, is "hysterical."  here i am trying to enjoy the uconn v. louisville game, and all i can hear is this faint singing.  so, me being the loving husband that i am, decide to grab the camera and investigate...and hilarity ensued.

and to make matters even better, uconn won!
